OKLAHOMA WOMAN SHOT DEAD AFTER TIKTOK VIDEO ACCUSING HUSBAND

SUN 26 JUL 2026

Sara Gilson, a social media influencer, was shot and killed at her home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, on Thursday. Police responded to an emergency call at 11.15pm and found Gilson and her estranged husband, Jeremiah Duffey, both dead with gunshot wounds. Investigators suspected that Duffey shot Gilson and then himself, in what police described as an apparent murder-suicide.

Thirteen days before her death, Gilson posted a TikTok video to tens of thousands of followers in which she referred to her "soon to be ex-husband" as a paedophile. The video, which followed a social media trend of people joking about "preparing" for documentaries about their lives, was viewed nearly 18 million times. On 10 June, Gilson had filed for an emergency protective order against Duffey after police informed her that he had been accused of molesting a child. On the same day, the mother of a 15-year-old girl filed her own protective order against Duffey, who coached youth basketball. According to court filings, a fellow coach witnessed Duffey kissing and fondling the girl during a basketball event and informed her parents.

The girl's mother told police that Duffey had sent her daughter inappropriate text messages, invited her to his hotel room during a tournament and offered her money to "keep her quiet" about the conduct. Gilson's protective order filing stated that Duffey possessed a firearm, had threatened suicide and had gone into hiding after the allegations emerged. Police records indicated that similar conduct by Duffey towards other juvenile players had been reported across multiple states prior to this incident.
