JACOBY BRISSETT SIGNS REWORKED CONTRACT WITH ARIZONA CARDINALS

SUN 26 JUL 2026 US SPORTS

Jacoby Brissett and the Arizona Cardinals have agreed a reworked one-year contract worth $15.5 million, with potential incentives raising the deal to $21 million. Brissett was originally scheduled to earn $4.88 million in base salary in the second year of his existing two-year agreement. Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur confirmed that Brissett is the team's likely starter for Week 1 of the upcoming season.

Brissett joined Arizona as backup to Kyler Murray before the 2025 season. After Murray suffered an injury in Week 5, Brissett started the final 12 games, completing 3,366 passing yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions as the Cardinals recorded a 1-11 record. The team released Murray during the off-season, incurring $36.8 million in dead cap money. According to reported figures, Brissett holds a career record of 20 wins and 45 losses across 101 appearances since entering the league in 2016 as a third-round pick for the New England Patriots.

No additional years were added to the reworked deal, meaning Brissett will play on a one-year contract. The Cardinals selected former Miami quarterback Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Brissett will turn 34 years old in December.
