LEWIS HAMILTON MISSES TENTH HUNGARORING POLE POSITION
Lewis Hamilton failed to secure pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with McLaren's Lando Norris taking the top spot in qualifying on Saturday. Hamilton had held the lead after his first run in Q3 but made no improvement on his second attempt, allowing Norris to overtake him. McLaren's Oscar Piastri finished fourth in the provisional results. The result came during a season in which Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers' Championship.
Hamilton has previously taken nine pole positions at the Hungaroring alongside eight race wins at the circuit. The British driver's failure to improve his second qualifying run cost him the chance to equal his track record of ten poles at the venue. Norris' qualifying performance marked a significant moment in what has otherwise been a season dominated by Mercedes.
The Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying session concluded with Norris on pole, Hamilton in second, and Piastri fourth on the grid for the race. The result represents a notable departure from Mercedes' dominance earlier in the season, with Ferrari and McLaren competing for front-row positions at this weekend's race.
