LEEDS RHINOS BEAT BRADFORD BULLS 42-12 TO TOP SUPER LEAGUE
Leeds Rhinos defeated Bradford Bulls 42-12 at Headingley on 26 July, moving two points clear at the top of the Super League. James McDonnell scored twice on his 100th Super League appearance for Leeds, who scored seven tries in total. Bradford took an early lead through Guy Armitage's try in the ninth minute but could not maintain that advantage. Leeds bounced back after their previous defeat to Castleford Tigers the week before.
Leeds' victory was overshadowed by an injury to winger Maika Sivo, who sustained a suspected broken arm in the first half whilst making a tackle on the halfway line. Sivo, described as the league's top try scorer with 29 tries for the season, was taken off the field and seen wearing a sling after the match. The injury affects his chances of breaking the record for the most tries scored in a single Super League season. Bradford, the defeated team, has now lost six matches in its last seven Super League outings.
In addition to McDonnell's two tries, Leeds' other try scorers were Jarrod O'Connor, Kallum Watkins, Brodie Croft, Luke Jenkins and Liam Holroyd. Jake Connor added seven goals for Leeds. Bradford's tries came from Armitage and Ryan, with two goals from Hooley. Leeds continues to lead the Super League standings following the result.
