MINJEE LEE WITHDRAWS FROM WOMEN'S SCOTTISH OPEN DUE TO ILLNESS
Minjee Lee, world number 12 in the LPGA rankings, withdrew from the Women's Scottish Open at Dundonald Links on Friday during her second round because of illness. Lee had teed off on Friday after completing her opening round on Thursday. According to one report, the Australian golfer was 10 over par through 13 holes when she withdrew from the competition. The specific details of the illness have not been disclosed.
Lee's withdrawal came after a difficult opening round in which she scored 13-over par 85, finishing tied for 140th place. During her first day at the course, she recorded seven greens with a 38.8 per cent success rate, missed 11 of 14 fairways and failed to convert any sand saves. This marks the second time in 2026 that Lee has withdrawn from a tournament; she also withdrew from the JM Eagle LA Championship in April, where the reason remained unclear. Lee's record in 2026 currently stands at three missed cuts, two withdrawals and two top-five finishes across ten starts.
The withdrawal occurs as Lee attempts to recover form after consecutive missed cuts at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and The Amundi Evian Championship. The AIG Women's British Open is scheduled for the following week, and one report indicated that Lee had been practising at Hesketh Golf Club in Southport in preparation for that event. Her return to competitive play has not yet been confirmed.
