SIX ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF MURDER AFTER MAN STABBED TO DEATH IN CLAPHAM
Six men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Clapham, south-west London, in the early hours of Saturday. Police were called at 4:37am after the man attended hospital with a stab wound. He died in hospital, and his family have been informed, according to the Metropolitan Police. Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, leading the investigation, said the victim was stabbed at approximately 4:20am near Tremadoc Road in Clapham.
Four additional men also attended hospital with stab wounds described as non-life-threatening or non-life-changing and have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The four hospitalised men were aged 22, 22, 22 and 24. The two other arrested men, aged 23 and 27, were arrested as part of ongoing police inquiries. The incident occurred in and around Tremadoc Road and Clapham High Street.
Superintendent Mark Gallacher, a policing lead for the area, described the incident as "tragic" and said officers continue to support the victim's family. He stated that specialist detectives are working to determine what occurred and that an increased police presence will be maintained throughout the area. Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact them to support the ongoing investigation.
