TEENAGER DIES AFTER STABBING IN LUTON PARK
A 17-year-old boy died following a stabbing at Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton on Friday evening, Bedfordshire Police said. Officers responded to reports of violent disorder at approximately 18:30, where a number of teenagers were observed carrying large knives. The boy was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Bedfordshire Police launched a murder investigation into the incident.
One teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remained in police custody for questioning at the time of the report. A second teenager was arrested and admitted to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police appealed to the public for information about the incident and urged people not to share images or videos circulating on social media. An increased police presence and patrols were deployed to the area following the stabbing.
Det Ch Insp Nick Gardener stated that the "horrific violence" had "sadly cost a teenage boy his life" and expressed that such incidents "have a significant impact on our communities". Zanib Raja, councillor for Biscot Ward in Luton, released a statement describing the incident as tragic and calling for community unity. She emphasised that Kingsway Park "should be safe for families, children, and every resident" of the town.
