CELTIC PURSUE MULTIPLE SIGNINGS AS TRANSFER WINDOW OPENS
Celtic are in advanced negotiations to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with talks underway for several attacking players across Europe. The Glasgow club are closest to securing SC Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, though a valuation gap remains between the two clubs. Celtic have also made approaches for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, AEK Athens defender James Penrice and Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has received one new addition so far this summer, Colombian striker Camilo Duran from Qarabag. According to reports, Celtic have additionally expressed interest in two Lazio attackers: winger Gustav Isaksen, valued at €15m (£13m), and forward Matteo Cancellieri. Isaksen is currently managing an injury, which sources suggest could lower his asking price. Cancellieri remains described as a cold prospect for a move at present. The club are preparing for a season in which they aim to retain their Scottish Premiership title and progress in the Champions League.
Celtic have also completed the sale of midfielder Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town for £10m, according to reports. The departures of established players have prompted urgent efforts to bring in reinforcements before the transfer window closes. O'Neill's side face competition from rival Scottish clubs including Rangers and Hearts as they build their squad for the campaign ahead.
