PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY TRAM IN WYTHENSHAWE

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by a tram at the Benchill Metrolink stop on Brownley Road in Wythenshawe on Friday, 24 July at approximately 6:45pm. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed that a tram collided with the pedestrian. Emergency services including ambulances, police vehicles and fire engines attended the scene. The pedestrian sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries according to reports.

Trams on the Manchester Airport line were temporarily suspended between Robinswood Road and Roundthorn whilst emergency services dealt with the incident. Normal service resumed following the suspension. TfGM stated it was investigating the circumstances of the collision. No further details about the pedestrian, including their age or gender, had been confirmed at the time of reporting.

Greater Manchester Police were approached for comment on the incident. A TfGM spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with those involved and we're looking into the circumstances of the collision." The force has not yet released additional information regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.
