ENGLAND GYMNAST LANGTON FALLS FROM HIGH BAR AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES

FRI 24 JUL 2026

England gymnast Gabriel Langton fell from the high bar during the men's artistic gymnastics team final at the Commonwealth Games, landing head-first on to the mat during the final rotation. The 19-year-old fell vertically and initially lay motionless before responding to medical staff by moving his legs and later his hands. Medical personnel stabilised Langton approximately 11 minutes after the fall, then lifted him on to a stretcher and removed him from the competition floor. He was applauded by the crowd as he left the arena.

The competition was brought to an immediate halt when Langton fell, with fellow gymnasts watching in visible concern as medical staff rushed to his aid. The arena fell silent during the incident. After action resumed, Canada won the men's team gold with a score of 241.400, with England finishing second with 238.250 and Australia in third with 235.650. The result meant England did not secure a fourth successive Commonwealth Games men's artistic gymnastics team title.

Langton's injury overshadowed England's bid for the team gold. No statement regarding his condition or the extent of his injuries has been reported as of publication.
