LABOUR MP LAUNCHES LIFELONG SEX EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

FRI 24 JUL 2026 UK POLITICS

Samantha Niblett, Labour MP for South Derbyshire, has launched a campaign promoting lifelong sex education. The initiative was unveiled this week at a rooftop bar above the Oxford Street John Lewis department store. The event was held in partnership with John Lewis and Coco de Mer, a retailer of luxury erotica products. Attendees received goodie bags of intimate bodycare products.

Ms Niblett stated that colleagues who were initially sceptical about the campaign are now "on a journey" towards supporting it. The women's parliamentary Labour Party WhatsApp group discussed the initiative, with terse comments exchanged before Ms Niblett left the conversation. Lucy Powell, Labour's deputy leader, said on LBC radio that she personally owns no sex toys, adding "each to their own".

The campaign's stated aims centre on lifelong sex education, though the specifics have not been detailed. The initiative has sparked debate across Westminster, according to reports. No confirmation of further planned activities or official government backing for the campaign has been announced.
