DODGERS STAR HERNÁNDEZ DECLINES WHITE HOUSE VISIT WITH TRUMP

FRI 24 JUL 2026 US SPORTS

Enrique Hernández, a Los Angeles Dodgers player, declined to attend the team's visit to the White House to meet President Donald Trump. When a fan wrote on Instagram urging him not to go, Hernández replied directly: "I'm not." According to one report, a body language expert commented on footage from the visit, though the source material does not specify whether Hernández appeared in any footage or what the expert's analysis concerned.

Hernández cited recovery from a left oblique strain as his priority during the White House visit period. The 34-year-old had been sidelined for more than two months after sustaining the injury in early May, following his return from elbow surgery during the offseason. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on 17 July. On his latest outing, he went 1-for-3 across seven innings in left field and hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

According to Major League Baseball, the Dodgers were considering reactivating Hernández as soon as the following Tuesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has described Hernández as dependable for both his hitting and defensive skills. Hernández is a three-time World Series champion and holds the highest number of postseason appearances for the franchise.
