META LAUNCHES SELLER APP FOR FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE
Meta has introduced a new application called Seller designed to allow users to manage sales on Facebook Marketplace with professional-grade tools. The app provides AI-powered listing creation, inventory management, unified messaging, performance insights and bulk listing features. Seller syncs with Facebook Marketplace so existing listings, messages and selling history transfer between platforms, and any listing created in the app appears on Marketplace itself. The application is now available to users aged 18 and older in the United States on iOS and Android, with a web experience under testing.
Facebook Marketplace currently records more than 430 million monthly listings across more than 1.1 billion active users worldwide. The new Seller app includes a home section highlighting actions requiring attention such as items to ship and messages to answer, alongside sales performance data. The app's listing creation page uses Meta AI to suggest details including title, description, price and category once photographs are uploaded. A unified inbox organises all buyer messages in one place, threaded by item to show every conversation related to a specific listing.
Meta stated that Marketplace reaches over one billion monthly active users and turns ten this year. The company said it will continue to develop the app based on feedback from sellers. Meta launched Seller alongside a new Verified programme that uses AI-powered facial recognition to allow users to confirm their identity on services including Dating, Marketplace and Groups. Facebook is also rolling out a new immersive design for video content.
