REESE WITHERSPOON AND JENNIFER ANISTON CONFIRM THE MORNING SHOW ENDING

Apple TV+ has announced that The Morning Show will conclude after its fifth season. Reese Witherspoon, who stars in and executive produces the drama alongside Jennifer Aniston, described the role as "the honour of a lifetime" in a statement following the confirmation. The series, which examines the behind-the-scenes operations of a breakfast television programme, began production nine years ago. Filming for the final season wrapped on Wednesday night.

The Morning Show was among Apple TV+'s inaugural original productions, having received a two-season straight-to-series order in 2017, before the streaming service launched in 2019. Witherspoon stated in her statement that the show explored themes beyond its newsroom setting, focusing on "why the newsroom matters" and "freedom of the press and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost". Aniston, also an executive producer, noted that Apple had supported the show's vision from its inception and that the cast and crew had "become such a family".

Both actors expressed gratitude to Apple, the writing team, producers and crew members involved in bringing five seasons to completion. Witherspoon characterised the experience as "the creative privilege of my career", whilst Aniston highlighted the opportunity to tell stories "that reflect what's happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humour". The cast and producers stated they are "excited to share this final season" with audiences.
