SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL CRITICALLY INJURED IN TAMWORTH MOTORBIKE COLLISION

FRI 24 JUL 2026 CRIME

A six-year-old girl suffered life-changing injuries after a motorbike collided with her bicycle on a cycle path in Cambrian, Tamworth, on Monday, 13 July. The force of the impact split her bicycle in half. The child, named Sienna, was placed in a medically induced coma as she began her recovery.

Corey Griffiths, aged 20, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop following a road accident, failing to report a road accident, using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and handling stolen goods. A 16-year-old boy who was also arrested has been released on conditional bail. According to her mother's account, Sienna suffered a partially internal decapitation and medical staff described her survival as "nothing short of a miracle".

A GoFundMe page established to support Sienna's recovery has raised more than £17,000. In a message posted by her mother, she stated: "This could happen to any child. If nothing changes, it is only a matter of time before another family is living our nightmare." She described Sienna as previously an active child who enjoyed martial arts and gymnastics, and called on riders to stop taking motorbikes into cycle paths and parks where children play.
