MANCHESTER SUPER GIANTS BEAT LONDON SPIRIT BY SEVEN RUNS
Manchester Super Giants defeated London Spirit by seven runs in The Hundred men's competition at Lord's. Super Giants batted first and scored 138-9 from their 100 balls, with Tim Seifert striking 67 from 45 deliveries. London Spirit replied with 131-6 in their innings, falling short despite Liam Livingstone's 69 from 40 balls. The match came down to the final delivery, with Sonny Baker bowling Livingstone and then having James Coles caught to secure victory for the visitors.
Seifert's innings was built on partnerships with Jos Buttler, who made 16, and Heinrich Klaasen, who contributed 17. Super Giants captain Aiden Markram fell early, scoring one off 10 before being trapped lbw by Adam Milne. The home side's batting then collapsed, with seven wickets falling for 35 runs. Livingstone's effort kept London Spirit in contention; he struck five sixes and added substantial partnerships with Kiran Carlson and Dewald Brevis before being dismissed in the penultimate set by Gus Atkinson.
Baker, aged 23, conceded 25 runs from his first 15 deliveries but restricted Livingstone to four runs across the final five balls of the match. Livingstone, who had taken 2-14 while bowling earlier in the day, was unable to guide his side to victory despite needing 12 runs from the final five deliveries. Birmingham Phoenix will face Trent Rockets at Edgbaston on Friday, with the women's match starting at 15:00 BST and the men's fixture at 18:30.
