ISLE OF MAN TOURISM REVENUE REACHES £433M RECORD

THU 23 JUL 2026 ECONOMY

The Isle of Man's tourism sector achieved a record annual value of £433m in 2025, according to a report from the island's tourism board. The self-governing territory welcomed 352,301 visitors during the year, representing a rise of almost seven per cent compared with 2024. This figure substantially exceeds pre-pandemic turnover levels. Deborah Heather, chief executive of Visit Isle of Man, stated that visitor satisfaction reached 99.2 per cent on a Net Promoter Score basis.

The island's visitor economy has expanded by 95 per cent since 2018, when the tourism sector was valued at £222m. The largest year-on-year increase occurred between 2024 and 2025, with a £107m difference. According to the tourism board's report, average visitor spending has already surpassed the target originally set for 2032 when adjusted for inflation. The Isle of Man holds designation as the first entire nation globally to be recognised as a Unesco Biosphere, and attracts visitors through attractions including the annual TT motorcycle race, Viking and Celtic heritage sites, and its seafood industry.

Heather stated that the tourism industry's growth reflects a "long-term approach" that creates benefits for residents, businesses, communities and visitors. The report noted that tourism revenue is expanding not merely in visitor numbers but in overall economic value. Two primary schools on the island teach solely in Manx Gaelic, supported by the island's Unesco Biosphere designation, which recognises a "healthy resurgence" of the language. Cultural events including the Yn Cruinnaght Celtic Gathering and the Oie Voaldyn fire festival in May also draw international visitors.
