MAN CITY FANS HAD MOST ARRESTS IN 2025-26 SEASON
Manchester City supporters were arrested or subject to other police actions more than fans of any other club during the 2025-26 domestic football season, according to data released by the UK Government. Official figures recorded 102 arrests and police actions involving Man City fans, followed by Chelsea with 76 and Manchester United with 67. The data was compiled from the 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales and the British Transport Police.
Across the country, recorded football-related arrests and police actions totalled 1,963 during the 2025-26 season, representing a 4% decrease compared with the previous campaign. The Government introduced new legislation in March 2026 when unauthorised entry to a football stadium was added to Schedule 1 of the Football Spectators Act 1989, resulting in 45 arrests and police actions under that offence alone. Arsenal, the Premier League champions, recorded 66 arrests, whilst Championship side Millwall had 63.
Manchester United experienced the largest proportional reduction in arrests among the top clubs, recording a 47% decrease (60 fewer incidents) compared with the 2024-25 season. The figures were collected across all 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales and the British Transport Police, encompassing all domestic football competitions during the period.
