AROKODARE DENIES REPORTS OF TRAINING GROUND CONFRONTATION AT WOLVES
Tolu Arokodare has stated that media reports claiming he forced the cancellation of training at Wolverhampton Wanderers by refusing to leave the pitch are inaccurate. The striker posted on social media that he was surprised and disappointed by the coverage, which suggested he had sat down at the club's training ground on Monday and demanded a move to Fiorentina. Arokodare said he remains committed to his contract with Wolves and intends to fulfil his professional responsibilities through training and playing when called upon.
Arokodare joined Wolves for £24 million from Genk last summer and scored three times during his first season as the club was relegated from the Premier League. He was excluded from Wednesday's friendly match against Maidenhead United under new manager Cesar Peixoto. Wolves have reportedly accepted an offer from Trabzonspor in Turkey but rejected a possible deal with Fiorentina. The player was previously disciplined by the club in April following a confrontation with forward Mateus Mane.
Wolves begin their Championship campaign against Blackburn on Friday 14 August. Arokodare's statement emphasises his professional conduct throughout his career and his commitment to the club's standards. The controversy comes during a period of significant change at Wolves following their Premier League relegation.
