FORMER DOLPHINS RB ARRESTED AFTER 2-YEAR-OLD SON SHOT HIMSELF
Le'Veon Moss, a recently retired running back, was arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on a juvenile cruelty charge following an incident in which his two-year-old son accidentally discharged a firearm inside the family's apartment. According to police documents, Moss told investigators he had been asleep with his son when the child reached under his pillow, found a handgun, and fired a single shot. Moss transported the child to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound. Officials have not released details about the severity of the child's injuries or the location of the wound.
Moss played running back for Texas A&M across four seasons before entering the 2026 NFL Draft undrafted. The Miami Dolphins signed him as an undrafted free agent with a guaranteed contract worth $258,000. Four days after receiving the guarantee, Moss announced his retirement from professional football. Injuries sustained throughout his college career, including a torn MCL and ACL against South Carolina in 2024 and subsequent ankle injuries, affected both his college performance and his prospects with NFL teams.
The arrest affidavit states that "due to Moss' negligence, a child under the age of seventeen suffered unjustifiable pain." Moss was arrested the same day the incident occurred.
