POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH CAUSING DEATH OF TEENAGER IN CRASH
Daniel Cartwright, a serving police officer with Bedfordshire Police, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a collision that killed a teenage boy. Ryley Hutson, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene after an incident involving an electric bike and two cars on Chilwell Lane in Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, on 28 September. Emergency services attended at approximately 10am. Cartwright, 31, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, was off-duty at the time of the collision.
Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit investigated the incident. Detective Inspector Jamie Moore stated that the collision had caused a devastating impact on Hutson's family, who have been updated about the charging decision. Cartwright is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 6 August to face the charge.
The case will proceed through the courts following the charging decision by police. Hutson's family have been kept informed throughout the investigation process. The circumstances that led to the collision remain part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
