VICTOR WEMBANYAMA NAMED COVER ATHLETE FOR NBA 2K27

Victor Wembanyama has been announced as the cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2K27, the company confirmed on Wednesday. Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever will feature on the deluxe edition cover, whilst Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose will appear on the ultra edition. The announcement marks the first time Wembanyama has appeared on a video game cover.

Wembanyama is the first centre to grace the cover of an NBA 2K basketball game since Shaquille O'Neal appeared on the Legend Edition of 2K18. He is also the first San Antonio Spurs player to appear on a standard edition cover since the franchise's inception in the game's release in 1999. The 7-foot-4 centre won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award in 2024 and claimed the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2026. Through 181 games, he is averaging 23.4 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks per game.

Wembanyama has recorded several standout individual performances. He scored 50 points against the Washington Wizards in November 2024 and has eight other regular season games with at least 40 points. In January 2025, he gathered 23 rebounds against the Denver Nuggets, one of four regular season games in which he has recorded at least 20 rebounds. Pre-orders for NBA 2K27 are now available.
