JOEY LOGANO WINS AT NORTH WILKESBORO IN NASCAR CUP SERIES

Joey Logano secured victory at North Wilkesboro in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, leading 323 of 450 laps and holding off Denny Hamlin in the closing stages. The win marked Logano's first race victory of the year and prompted renewed discussion of his championship prospects. Team Penske is now viewed by many in the community as a legitimate title threat following the dominant performance.

Kyle Petty, a NASCAR legend, questioned whether the victory represents a genuine championship turnaround or merely another momentum swing in a season marked by shifting frontrunners. Petty noted that Tyler Reddick won five of the first eleven races before Hamlin subsequently won three straight races and moved ahead in the standings. According to Petty, Logano struggled to capitalise on competitive opportunities throughout the first half of the season across multiple tracks before his North Wilkesboro win.

Petty stated that championship contenders must demonstrate consistent strong finishes week after week rather than prove themselves through a single weekend performance. Upcoming races at Iowa, Richmond, New Hampshire, and Daytona provide opportunities for Logano to sustain momentum and show whether the North Wilkesboro victory represents the beginning of a sustained championship challenge. Petty insisted Logano would need to prove the win was not a one-off result before serious consideration as a championship favourite.
