US CARRIES OUT 11TH CONSECUTIVE NIGHT OF ATTACKS ON IRAN

WED 22 JUL 2026 NORTH AMERICA

The United States conducted its 11th consecutive night of military strikes against Iran on Wednesday, according to US Central Command. The assault lasted approximately 75 minutes and targeted what the command described as "Iranian military operations centres, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure". Iran's state media reported strikes on military sites in multiple provinces, including locations outside Tabriz in northwestern Iran, the southwestern province of Khuzestan, Ilam province near the Iraqi border, and Kabudarahang County in Hamadan province. Fires were reported in the southwestern city of Behbahan following the attacks.

Iran responded by launching drones towards US military facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain. Iran's military said it struck "ammunition depots" and "ground forces command logistics equipment" at Camp Doha in western Kuwait, the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, and the Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The US Department of defence said a third American soldier was believed to have died after Iran struck the Jordanian air base on 17 July; the 28-year-old had previously been listed as missing. This raised the number of US soldiers killed since the conflict began on 28 February to 18.

The escalation reflects a broader pattern of military exchanges between the US and Iran since the conflict's start in February. According to initial reports, the ongoing war has killed American troops, disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and increased oil prices. Iran's military said it remained "ready to decisively counter any new conspiracy and adventurism by the enemy", signalling the likelihood of further military action in the region.
