MATT DAMON CREDITS FEMALE STUNT PERFORMER IN ODYSSEY FILM

WED 22 JUL 2026

Matt Damon has identified the female stunt performer who doubled for him in scenes from Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. Damon, who plays the title character, said the performer's physical appearance was visible in shots depicting his muscular transformation. He stated on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that forced-perspective filmmaking was used in sequences involving the Laestrygonians, a race of giant cannibals from the epic. Unusually tall and unusually short stunt performers were employed to create the illusion of towering giants confronting Odysseus and his men.

The stunt performer has been identified as Devyn Dalton, a Canadian stunt worker who confirmed Damon's reference on social media. Damon said he met Dalton in the catering tent during filming and thanked her for her work. He acknowledged that most of the visible arm shots in the film were his own, but stated credit was due to Dalton for her contribution to the sequence. Dalton's previous film and television credits include The Last of Us, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Fall of the House of Usher, Thunderbolts, Wonder and The BFG.

The Odyssey features an ensemble cast including Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena, Samantha Morton as Circe, Charlize Theron as Calypso, and Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy. Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin and Mia Goth also appear in the film. The adaptation follows Odysseus's journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War as he battles monsters, gods and mythical foes.
