PAUL MCCARTNEY SURPRISES BEATLES TOUR BUS IN LIVERPOOL

WED 22 JUL 2026

Sir Paul McCartney pulled alongside a Magical Mystery Tour bus at traffic lights on Hope Street in Liverpool and was spotted by passengers on the vehicle. At the time of the encounter, McCartney was on a video call with former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr using FaceTime. Bus driver Neil Morton reported the incident to the BBC, describing the unexpected nature of seeing McCartney and Starr together in this manner.

McCartney was in Liverpool to present an award to actor and producer Stephen Graham at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, an institution McCartney co-founded. The Magical Mystery Tour is a themed bus experience for Beatles fans visiting the city. The encounter occurred on a Tuesday and was observed by passengers who had paid to participate in the tour.

The incident reflects broader renewed interest in The Beatles, with upcoming films, recent musical releases and new dedicated experiences currently in development. The surprise meeting combined the experience of being on a Beatles-themed tour with an unplanned sighting of two members of the band itself.
