LIVERPOOL NIGHTCLUB CONFIRMS REOPENING PLANS AFTER FIRE
Elysium nightclub on Eberle Street in Liverpool will reopen this year following renovations, the venue has confirmed. The three-storey building caught fire in September 2024 whilst already closed, with Merseyside Fire and Rescue attending the scene using six fire engines and an aerial appliance. Crews found the fire in the roof space and fought it internally using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets. Eberle Street was closed during the incident and car parks on nearby Tempest Hey were blocked off by fire engines.
The venue opened in 2023 in the former Garlands nightclub space with a capacity of 1,200. It advertised itself as a versatile space for live music, house DJ performances and private event bookings. The fire occurred whilst Elysium was already shut, and the entrance has since remained covered by a plank of wood. The venue has not reopened its doors in the period following the fire.
The confirmation of Elysium's reopening plans comes ahead of Liverpool Pride celebrations. A new nightclub called Campus is opening on 25 July in the former OMG venue on Victoria Street, under the ownership of GBar owner Amy Gwynn, providing an alternative venue for Pride attendees during the period whilst Elysium completes its renovation work.
