ATHLETICS PLACE KURODA-GRAUER ON INJURED LIST AFTER TESTICULAR INJURY

WED 22 JUL 2026 ATHLETICS

The Oakland Athletics placed rookie infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday following a ruptured testicle sustained during Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kuroda-Grauer fouled a ball that ricocheted off the bat handle into his groin during the fifth inning. He fell to the ground immediately but completed his at-bat, recording a single to centre field before being replaced in the lineup.

The injury proved more severe than initially reported. The Athletics described the damage as a testicular contusion when Kuroda-Grauer left the game on Monday, but testing later revealed a rupture that required surgical intervention, which he had already undergone by the time of Tuesday's announcement. The incident came in Kuroda-Grauer's 16th Major League Baseball game and followed a notable personal milestone earlier in the same match.

In his second at-bat of the evening, during the second inning, Kuroda-Grauer had hit his first career home run, giving the Athletics a 1–0 lead in their eventual 5–2 victory. The Athletics provided no return timeline for the rookie. Medical recovery from testicular rupture typically extends beyond the standard 10-day injured list period, though the club made no statement regarding an extended absence.
