TUE 21 JUL 2026 CRIME

Kirandeep Kaur, a 24-year-old woman, was stabbed to death at her home on Uxbridge Road in Hayes in the early hours of 12 July. She was killed as she lay beside her husband and baby. A person has been charged in connection with the death. Her family, based in Punjab in India, have said they are awaiting the return of her body so they can say a final goodbye.

Kaur had moved to Britain two years prior to study at Buckinghamshire New University before later finding work at a grocery store. Her family live in Tarn Taran in Punjab. According to her brother Paljinder Singh, speaking through a translator, plans for Kaur to settle in Canada had fallen through before she came to the UK. Singh said the community response to her death had brought his family comfort from thousands of miles away. He stated: "Everyone got together to raise the case." Her death prompted a series of marches and vigils across west London, where community members gathered to remember Kaur and stand alongside her family.

Singh told media outlets that the family had never imagined London would become Kaur's permanent home. He described her as a kind person who was always willing to help others. The family continue to wait for Kaur's body to be returned to India. Singh said: "I will never speak to her on the phone again, but I want to see her one last time."
