LEBRON JAMES' AGENT SAYS FREE AGENCY DECISION WILL NOT BE RUSHED
Rich Paul, agent for LeBron James, stated on Monday that the NBA player will not be pressured into selecting his next team during free agency. Speaking on the "Game Over" podcast with Max Kellerman, Paul said James will take his time with the decision and that teams need not contact him further to advocate for their case. Paul characterised the matter as a business choice James has earned the right to make on his own timeline. He rejected suggestions that James should accelerate his decision, stating: "Why is it that an athlete has to rush his choice?"
James, who announced in June that he was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, entered free agency at age 41. According to one report, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has expressed eagerness for the saga to conclude, whilst media figures have commented on the length of the process. Multiple teams have emerged as potential destinations, including the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Golden State Warriors. Paul indicated that James possesses all the information necessary to make his choice, stating that "all the messages have been sent" and teams do not need to do more to impress him.
Paul emphasised that neither he nor anyone else knows precisely when James will announce his decision. He stated the choice could come "48 seconds" or "48 minutes" from any given moment. The uncertainty has dominated NBA discourse as the offseason progresses, with Paul insisting that James' extended deliberation reflects the significance of the business decision rather than any attempt to generate spectacle or attention.
