WOMAN DIES IN QUEENSLAND HOUSE FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION
Isabella Nicholls, aged 21, died in hospital following a house fire in Buderim on Australia's Sunshine Coast on Sunday, 19 July. Ms Nicholls escaped the blaze, which took hold at 7:30pm, and was taken to Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital, where she died from serious burns sustained in the fire. Queensland Police are investigating the cause of the fire and have appealed for information from the public.
Ms Nicholls left behind a young son, Elijah. Her family issued a statement describing themselves as "absolutely shattered by this unimaginable loss", and noted that Elijah "will now grow up without his mummy". The family characterised Ms Nicholls as "a devoted and loving mother" and "a vibrant, kind, and beautiful soul with her whole life ahead of her". Ms Nicholls was originally from Kallangur in Queensland.
A GoFundMe fundraiser was created by the family to support funeral expenses. The circumstances of the fire remain under police investigation, with officers continuing to gather information from members of the public about what occurred on the evening of the blaze.
