LE'VEV BELL ARRESTED IN OHIO ON MICHIGAN WARRANT

MON 20 JUL 2026 FOOTBALL

Le'Veon Bell, the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, was arrested in Ohio on Sunday following an autograph signing at Belden Village Mall in Jackson Township. Bell was held in Stark County jail on what arrest records describe as a "courtesy hold for another agency." According to court documents, the arrest was based on a warrant issued in Michigan, though the specific reason for the warrant was not disclosed in publicly available records.

Bell's attorney, Thomas Shaffer, told reporters that his client is being "inaccurately" charged based on his NFL salary despite having been out of the league for years. One report alleged the arrest relates to child-support payments, with Bell reportedly owing over $50,000. Bell played college football at Michigan State before being drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Between 2014 and 2017, he averaged 1,119 rushing yards and 565.3 receiving yards per season, earning three Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro designations during that period.

Bell sat out the entire 2018 season in a contract dispute with Pittsburgh before signing a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the New York Jets in 2019. He was released during the 2020 season and subsequently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. His final NFL season came in 2021, when he played for the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The circumstances of his arrest and the details of the Michigan warrant remain unclear.
