ANGEL REESE EXITS DREAM VICTORY WITH KNEE INJURY
Angel Reese left the court during the Atlanta Dream's 93-91 victory over the Chicago Sky at Gateway Centre Arena on Sunday after sustaining a knee injury. The injury occurred at approximately 9:47 remaining in the fourth quarter when Reese hyper-extended her knee whilst attempting a layup. She initially continued play before exiting to the locker room. The Atlanta Dream organisation has not released official communication regarding the nature or severity of the injury pending further evaluation.
The Dream held a 22-point lead before the match tightened considerably towards its conclusion. Reese has averaged 15.7 points and 2.5 assists per game this season, and leads the league in rebounds per game at 11.8. The victory marks Atlanta's seventh consecutive win against Chicago and their third straight win overall, improving their record to 16-10 and moving them to fifth in the league table. Dream coach Karl Smesko noted after the match that Reese appeared to be in significant pain during the timeout following the incident.
The injury timing is significant given that Reese is selected as an All-Star reserve for the upcoming All-Star weekend. The Dream will feature three All-Star reserves from their roster. Reese's status for future fixtures remains uncertain pending medical evaluation.
