GYMNAST SKYE BLAKELY WINS DOUBLE GOLD AT U.S. CLASSIC

Skye Blakely won two gold medals at the U.S. Classic gymnastics competition in Hartford, scoring 14.25 on balance beam and 14.10 on uneven bars. The 21-year-old gymnast competed in only two events at the meet. Isabella Anzola took silver on beam with 13.80, whilst Izzy Stassi claimed silver on bars at 13.65. Blakely edged Reese Esponda, who scored 13.75 on beam, and Olympic champion Jade Carey, who scored 13.55 on bars.

Blakely returned to competition two years after tearing her Achilles tendon during podium training at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials at age 19. Since her comeback, she has focused on balance beam and uneven bars. Her combined score of 28.35 across both events qualified her for the U.S. Championships in August. Blakely was the only Hartford competitor who had competed in the 2026 NCAA Championships that spring, where she competed for Florida.

That night, Blakely stood alone as the only gymnast to clear 14.00 on two separate events at the competition. Her twin scores across beam and bars exceeded the marks of other competitors, including Carey's 14.275 on vault. Blakely has previously won multiple silver medals at the U.S. National Championships and helped Team USA win gold at the World Championships.
