CAM SKATTEBO ATTEMPTS BACKFLIP DURING INJURY REHABILITATION
Cam Skattebo, a running back for the New York Giants, attempted a backflip whilst recovering from injury at Fanatics Fest in New York over the weekend. The backflip was unsuccessful, and Skattebo fell to the ground. The incident prompted commentary from observers, including sports analyst Skip Bayless, who wrote on X that if he were John Harbaugh and the Giants organisation, he would fine Skattebo, describing the attempt as "season-risking, reckless" behaviour.
Skattebo suffered an open tibia fracture and a ruptured deltoid ligament during a Week 8 match against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. Before his injury, he had rushed for 410 yards and scored five touchdowns. The Giants are counting on his recovery for the upcoming season. At the same Fanatics event, Skattebo also displayed the injury and attempted other athletic feats, including shooting hoops and trying field goals. Harbaugh stated on the Domonique Foxworth Show only days prior that Skattebo was "doing really well" and that the running back had been active during offseason camps.
This is not Skattebo's first backflip attempt during recovery. Approximately one month earlier, he successfully completed a backflip at a charity softball game organised by Brian Burns. In May, during a town hall event for Giants supporters in New York, Skattebo said that the mental aspect of rehabilitation had proved the most difficult part of his recovery process, adding that he was working to trust his body fully.
