PALESTINIAN FOOTBALLER FADI AL-NAASAN DIES AFTER WEST BANK SHOOTING
Fadi Al-Naasan, a 17-year-old footballer from Al-Mughayyir in the occupied West Bank, died on Saturday from bullet wounds sustained during an attack on the village a week earlier. Al-Naasan was shot in the thigh with live ammunition on 11 July when Israeli forces and settlers attacked the home of Mohammed Hamed Abu Aliya, according to media reports. Palestinians held a farewell ceremony for the teenager following his death.
The shooting occurred during an incident in which Israeli forces and settlers engaged with residents of Al-Mughayyir. Al-Naasan sustained a single gunshot wound to the thigh during the confrontation. He remained hospitalised for seven days before succumbing to his injury on Saturday.
The incident forms part of a pattern of violence in the occupied West Bank involving Israeli military operations and settler activity. Al-Naasan's death marks another casualty among Palestinian civilians during the ongoing conflict in the territory. No statement from Israeli authorities regarding the circumstances of the shooting has been reported.
