KILMARNOCK BEATS ELGIN CITY IN PREMIER SPORTS CUP
Kilmarnock defeated League 2 side Elgin City 1-0 in the Premier Sports Cup group stage, with Joe Hugill scoring in stoppage time. The Scottish Premiership club played with ten men for part of the match. St Johnstone won 3-0 away to Greenock Morton at McDiarmid Park, whilst holders St Mirren secured a 4-0 victory over Cove Rangers at Balmoral Stadium.
Nicky Clark, player-manager of Queen of the South, opened the scoring as his League 1 side defeated Brora Rangers 3-0 at Dudgeon Park. Liam Smith scored twice in three minutes in the second half to complete the victory. Montrose beat Stirling Albion 2-0 away from home, with Ewan Loudon converting a penalty in the first half and Blair Lyons adding a second goal two minutes later. St Mirren's Craig McLeish's side maintained a 100 per cent record in their group, with Jalmaro Calvin, Luke Douglas and Samuel Ramos all scoring. East Kilbride came from behind to defeat Dumbarton 5-3 at K-Park in a match that produced eight goals.
Cameron Elliott scored a hat-trick for East Kilbride to secure the League 1 newcomers' win. Leighton McIntosh had given Dumbarton an early lead, but Elliott levelled within thirty minutes and added two further goals before half-time. Additional wins were recorded by Airdrieonians, Ayr United, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. Dundee United faced Arbroath later in the evening.
