MAN STABBED IN FACE AND BACK IN WALTON; ARREST MADE

SAT 18 JUL 2026 CRIME

Police in Liverpool attended the corner of Olney Street and Breeze Hill in Walton just after 5am on 18 July following reports that a man in his 30s had been stabbed. Officers were alerted after a North West Ambulance Service crew member discovered the man with wounds to his face and back. He was taken to hospital and remained in a stable condition. A 36-year-old suspect from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and remained in custody.

Merseyside Police Detective Chief Inspector Andrew McCourt stated that an investigation had been launched and that enquiries were ongoing, with detectives carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and forensic work. McCourt asked local residents to check doorbell and dashcam footage for any suspicious activity. A police cordon was erected around a section of pavement and a bin alley entrance at the scene. Dried blood, clothing items, an oxygen mask and a syringe were observed within the cordon, with the clothing understood to have been used to stem bleeding.

The force confirmed it was seeking information from the community to support the investigation. No statement was issued regarding the motive for the stabbing or the relationship between the suspect and the injured man. Merseyside Police urged anyone with information to come forward.
