THE ROLLING STONES EQUAL BEATLES' RECORD WITH 15TH NUMBER ONE ALBUM

SAT 18 JUL 2026

The Rolling Stones have secured their 15th chart-topping album with the release of Foreign Tongues, equalling The Beatles' record for the most number one records. The 14-track album, released on Friday, entered the official albums chart at the top position. The record follows the band's 2023 release Hackney Diamonds and has been widely praised by critics as a late-career achievement. The band comprises Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood.

The album's chart success marks a significant milestone for the Grammy-winning group, matching the chart performance of the fellow 1960s rock pioneers. Foreign Tongues ascended to the top of the charts swiftly following its Friday release. The Rolling Stones are regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll acts of all time. The release comes as part of the band's continued recording activity following their 2023 album.

Elsewhere on the official albums chart, boy band December 10 made their debut at number five with their album On Your Side, recording the highest-charting entry for a British boy band in six years. The seven-member ensemble was formed in 2025 by music mogul Simon Cowell as part of his Netflix documentary series The Next Act. The band stated that seeing their name on the official albums chart alongside established artists represented a significant personal achievement. My Chemical Romance's remastered 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys entered at number two, whilst Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love held at number three.
