CLEANER RECOMMENDS £1.50 SPRAY FOR SHOWER LIMESCALE

SAT 18 JUL 2026

A cleaner has recommended a commercial spray for removing limescale from shower screens after members of a Facebook cleaning group sought advice on tackling hard water marks. Lisa Evans posted on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page asking for product suggestions after struggling with water marks and limescale deposits. Over 80 people responded with recommendations, with one product mentioned most frequently by contributors to the discussion.

Shower screens are predominantly affected by hard water deposits, commonly referred to as limescale, though soap scum can also accumulate if screens are not maintained regularly. These deposits can etch into the glass surface, causing it to appear perpetually dirty even after cleaning. Consistent cleaning or wiping down with a squeegee after each shower helps prevent accumulation. Whilst natural cleaning remedies exist, commercial products can resolve the problem more quickly according to those participating in the conversation.

Annika Karrison recommended Viakal spray, stating it was the most effective option available. The product costs £1.50 at Home Bargains. Karrison described applying the spray across the top and centre of shower doors, then using a damp cloth whilst wearing gloves to wipe the product over the entire door and side panels before rinsing. She noted the visible difference in cleanliness following this method.
