ALI LOUIS BOURZGUI WINS FEATURED ACTOR TONY FOR THE LOST BOYS

Ali Louis Bourzgui won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in The Lost Boys. The win came as a surprise result at the ceremony, with Bourzgui defeating André De Shields for the award. Productions including Rocky Horror, Two Strangers, and Titaníque did not receive awards in the categories in which they had been anticipated. The result marked one of the notable outcomes of this year's Tony Awards.

Bourzgui used his acceptance speech to honour Arab theatre makers and acknowledge Palestine. The Lost Boys is a musical production that brought Bourzgui to prominence on Broadway. André De Shields, a recognised figure in musical theatre, had been among those competing in the category. The award recognises performance in a supporting musical role on Broadway.

Bourzgui's win represents a notable moment for Arab representation in American theatre. His public acknowledgement of Palestine during a major industry awards ceremony places the recognition on record. The Tony Awards remain one of the highest-profile honours in Broadway theatre. The result adds Bourzgui's name to the list of Tony recipients drawn from productions in the current Broadway season.
