DAME SARAH STOREY JOINS STRICTLY COME DANCING 2026

Dame Sarah Storey has been announced as the seventh celebrity contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2026. The 48-year-old retired from her career in swimming and cycling. Storey holds 19 Olympic gold medals and is recorded as Britain's most successful Paralympian. She expressed enthusiasm for the programme and cited long-standing admiration for the show as motivation for her participation.

Storey was born with a non-functioning left hand and began her Paralympic sporting career in swimming at age 14, later transitioning to cycling. The programme is scheduled to begin in September 2026. Other celebrity contestants announced for the 2026 series include Lacey Turner, Dani Dyer, Delta Goodrem, Chris Appleton, Cach Mercer and Will Best. Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe have been confirmed as new hosts for the series.

Storey's announcement comes approximately one week after she retired from competitive sport. The Strictly Come Dancing 2026 series will mark her first venture into competitive dance.
