BONNIE TYLER FUNERAL SERVICE SCHEDULED FOR SWANSEA

FRI 17 JUL 2026

A celebration of life service and public procession have been announced in Swansea following the death of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. Tyler died on 8 July at a hospital in Portugal, aged 75, her family stated. The family said she died "as a result of the illness that she was being treated for". Tributes were paid by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart following her death.

Tyler's coffin will arrive at her home in Mumbles on 15 August at 15:30 BST, with members of the public invited to line Newton Road from 15:15 to pay their respects. A celebration of life service will take place at St Mary's Church in Swansea on 17 August at 12:00 BST. Following the service, her coffin will travel through her hometown of Skewen, Neath Port Talbot, at approximately 13:20 BST en route to a private family service. Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, was known for songs including Total Eclipse of the Heart, Holding Out For A Hero and Here She Comes. She is survived by her husband Robert Sullivan, whom she was married to for more than 50 years.

The funeral notice requested family flowers only but invited donations to two charities where Tyler held patronages: Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru. The notice described her as "a warm, generous artist whose music touched generations and continues to fill dance floors and karaoke booths around the world". Tyler's siblings are listed as Marlene, Angela, Avis and Paul, with several deceased family members also named.
