BEVERLEY CALLARD COMPLETES RADIOTHERAPY FOR BREAST CANCER

FRI 17 JUL 2026 DISEASE

Beverley Callard has confirmed completion of radiotherapy treatment for early-stage breast cancer diagnosed earlier this year. The Coronation Street actor announced on Thursday that she had finished ten radiotherapy sessions, sharing the news via video on her Instagram account. Callard said she felt "thrilled" to have reached the end of this phase of treatment, though she acknowledged feeling emotionally drained after the previous day's session.

Callard relocated to Ireland after joining the soap Fair City and has been undergoing cancer treatment there with her husband, Jon McEwan. Prior to radiotherapy, she underwent surgery to remove lymph nodes as a precautionary measure to prevent cancer spreading. Her consultant reported that the surgical procedure "went really well" and that medical staff had successfully "cut the cancer out". Callard noted that radiotherapy began at the start of July, later than originally scheduled.

The actor is scheduled to meet with her consultant again in two months, at which point she stated she will "know a lot more" about her condition. She will undergo further mammograms and oncology appointments as part of her ongoing care. Callard has documented her cancer journey publicly via social media throughout her treatment.
