APPLE PLANNING OLED IPAD MINI FOR OCTOBER RELEASE

Apple is preparing to release a new iPad mini model as soon as October, according to reporting by Mark Gurman. The device, code-named J510, will feature an OLED screen intended to improve display quality. The last iPad mini release occurred in 2024 with the seventh-generation model. Gurman also reported that Apple is developing an entry-level iPad with a faster processor and new iPad Air models expected in 2027, with additional iPad Pro models anticipated next year.

The new iPad mini upgrade would represent the most significant refresh for the device since its 2021 redesign. Apple raised prices on multiple iPad models last month, with the iPad mini increasing from $499 to $599, the 11-inch iPad Pro rising by $200 to $1,199, and the iPad Air climbing from $599 to $749. The price increases follow broader cost pressures within the technology sector, attributed partly to RAM and memory chip shortages affecting manufacturers including Apple. An Apple representative declined to comment on the reported developments.

The timing and specification of the new iPad mini remain subject to industry reporting rather than official confirmation from Apple. Pricing for the new OLED model has not been disclosed. The device's release would come amid ongoing price increases across Apple's tablet product line.
