GOOGLE RENAMES NOTEBOOKLM TO GEMINI NOTEBOOK

Google announced that NotebookLM, its AI-powered research product, will be renamed Gemini Notebook. The company stated it will remain a standalone application whilst integrating more deeply with Gemini and Google Search. Google also confirmed it is adding coding execution capabilities to the tool to enhance data analysis functionality.

NotebookLM was first presented during Google IO in May 2023 under the working title Project Tailwind. According to Google, the product has since been adopted by 30 million users and more than 600,000 organisations. Over the past three years, the company added features including interactive podcast generation, curated notebooks, video overviews, expanded file type support, and an enterprise plan.

The renaming reflects Google's broader strategy of consolidating its AI offerings under the Gemini brand. The tool will continue to operate as a distinct application rather than being fully absorbed into the main Gemini platform. Google has not specified a date for when the transition will be completed or what additional features may follow the rebrand.
