STEPHEN ESKINAZI NAMED LEICESTERSHIRE ONE-DAY CUP CAPTAIN
Stephen Eskinazi has been appointed captain of Leicestershire for the forthcoming One-Day Cup competition. The batter takes on the role left vacant by Peter Handscomb, an Australian player who was ruled out for the season owing to family commitments. Eskinazi is in his first full season at Leicestershire, having joined the club on loan from Middlesex in summer 2025.
Leicestershire will begin their One-Day Cup campaign on Wednesday, 22 July, with a fixture against Gloucestershire at Kibworth. The appointment represents a significant responsibility for Eskinazi in his early tenure at the club. His selection reflects the club's confidence in his leadership during the limited-overs format.
The captaincy change comes amid the departure of Handscomb from the short-form competition. Eskinazi's leadership will be tested immediately as Leicestershire enter the tournament. The club has confirmed the fixture schedule for the opening match of their campaign.
