US IMPOSES TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ON CONGO EBOLA OUTBREAK RETURNEES
The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has issued new travel restrictions affecting Americans returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan, according to reporting on the restrictions. The measures respond to an ongoing Ebola outbreak in the region.
Government data from the DRC recorded 2,011 confirmed cases of Ebola and 754 deaths as of the report date. The travel restrictions represent a public health response to the documented spread of the virus across multiple countries in central Africa.
