MOTHER JAILED FOR SON'S MURDER SEEKS CONVICTION REVIEW

WED 15 JUL 2026 CRIME

Angharad Williamson, who was convicted of murdering her five-year-old son Logan Mwangi, has applied for her case to be reviewed by the body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice. Williamson was sentenced to life imprisonment in June 2022 alongside John Cole, the boy's stepfather, and Craig Mulligan, who was 14 at the time. She must serve a minimum of 28 years. At a hearing on Wednesday at Pontypridd Coroner's Court, a date was set for Logan's inquest.

Tony Thompson, a former superintendent with the British Transport Police, told the court he is conducting a review of Williamson's conviction. The inquest into Logan's death has been scheduled for November this year. The hearing took place more than six years after the boy's death.

The review process represents a formal examination of the case by an independent body responsible for investigating alleged miscarriages of justice. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Logan's death. The case has been the subject of significant public attention in Wales and beyond since the boy's murder.
