MICHIGAN STAFFER HIRED BY CHICAGO BEARS AFTER MOORE AFFAIR
Paige Shiver, a former Michigan Wolverines staff member, has been hired by the Chicago Bears to work in community engagement and special projects. Shiver was previously employed at Michigan, where she was involved in an inappropriate relationship with head coach Sherrone Moore that violated university policy. Moore was fired in December after the relationship became public; Shiver's contract with Michigan subsequently expired and was not renewed by the university.
Shiver and Moore had maintained a relationship for nearly four years whilst both employed by Michigan. In December, Shiver ended the relationship and disclosed it publicly, which triggered Moore's dismissal and his placement under probation for 18 months. After leaving Michigan, Shiver gave an interview in which she stated that the university had failed to protect her and expressed a lack of trust in the institution's process, saying the programme had appeared committed to protecting Moore rather than addressing the situation.
The Bears' hiring of Shiver comes as Michigan continues to address the fallout from the scandal. Shiver's appointment marks a significant development for the former staffer, who has now secured employment outside college football following her departure from the Wolverines programme.
